There are often multiple purposes to day-to-day regular objects such as a tea towel can dry up utensils in addition toshield hands from burning while carrying plates and also a can of beer can be used for alcoholic drinking reasons, as well as polish furniture. Much like many things in life, a lot of people try to break the mould to get attention and make news headlines. But one person has decided to be extra unusual and use hair extensions for a completely wacky new point, other than to lengthen natural hair. The dress maker from the well-known Channel 4 programme ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ has bizarrely made a wedding gown out of human hair extensions. Thelma Madine has shot to fame ever since the tv programme was launched as she claims to be the top seamstress for all of the travellers and gypsies throughout the United Kingdom. Now the ‘fairy godmother’ has produced some bridal wear that takes OTT (Over the Top) to atotally new level.

The peculiar dress has been made using 250 metres of hair pieces and is currently valued at an enormous £50,000. The human locks frock required a group of about 8 dressmakers and hairdressers to make the bright red colourful dress. Thedress weighs a huge 15 stone, is a size six and Madine is praying that the pricey piece will be noticed by controversialsinger Lady Gaga. The ‘Born This Way’ singer has caused a stir prior to now by wearing outrageous and grotesque outfits made completely out of meat and one just like Kermit the Frog from hit Television show The Muppets. So now the famousUK seamstress is longing for Gaga to carry on her trademark style and also wear the exclusive dress made entirely out ofclip in hair extensions.

The weird wedding gown was made through collaboration with a hair dresser called Ryan Edwards from hair salonVoodou and it used tens of thousands of individual hair wefts and different hairpieces such as Remi hair extensions orclip in fringes. The exclusive style, that took over 12 days to make, also consists of 1500 crystals and 12 underskirts. The bridal wear was crowned the winner when it was showcased at the Alternative Miss Liverpool pageant in Liverpool. But it is not the only hair-raising outfit which has ever been made. Back in 2010 a tunic was created in Vietnam from one million metres of human hair Remi hair extensions and it came complete with a matching hat.

This occurrence is a really crazy use of pre bonded hair extensions as generally Brits use them to elongate their very ownnatural hair on their head instead of wearing them on their body. Create fabulous length with some feather hair extensions just like brand ambassador Sam Friars from the hit reality show ‘The Only Way Is Essex’. Whether you like long curly hair or perhaps a lengthy straight mane, make sure you wear the flip in hair extensions on top of your head. Budding fashionistas can co-ordinate the remi cachet hair extensions with their current hair colour so that it matchescompletely.

While the planet changes and so does the way many people work, there were many trends appearing in office and workplace design to keep employees content and increase productivity.

A great deal of small business is now based from home and people can decide on their own home office furniture and design of the room, but for those companies which find that this is not a viable option, they have taken to replacing old fashioned and often uncomfortable office desks and office chairs to encourage well-being amongst employees.

Along with standard office desks and office chairs, more companies are choosing to place furniture for instance couches and comfortable chairs, in addition to items including pool tables and video game consoles or machines, to divide the room and guarantee it doesn’t look like just row after row of computer desks along with other office furniture.

Modern designs are often useful for boardroom tables, with materials such as glass now very well liked for meeting rooms. Also the office furniture used in the reception area often features more up-to-date designs and reception furniture can now incorporate a tailor-made reception desk, sofas and modern tables to give perfect first impression to clients and visitors who come into the premises as it shows that a company is modern and forward-thinking.

Even though modern looking office furniture is extremely popular and will often be suitable for companies working in industries for example technology and the media, more established companies may want to invest in antique reproduction office furniture. Antique office desks and traditional swivel office chairs in many cases are used in the offices of management and stylish reproduction boardroom tables in many cases are found in meeting rooms.

Other commercial premises have also been adapted in recent years. Hotel furniture has developed and in many cases become much more affordable as consumers expect more quality from their hotel stay. This means that comfort and luxury isn’t just restricted to top end 5 star hotels – small hotels and B&Bs now offer contemporary designs and much more magnificent beds and other hotel furniture as guests want much more for their money.

Location and price were once the key in picking somewhere to settle down for the night but the surge of online booking and the sheer amount of accommodation indicates that guests can be more discerning and if a hotel doesn’t adhere to a particular style or they don’t like the hotel furniture, they will simply look elsewhere.

It isn’t just the rooms which have reaped the benefit from new trends in hotel furniture; the lobby of any type of accommodation now features modern reception furniture to provide a good opinion to guests as soon as they get into the building. As well as contemporary style reception desks, many hotel lobbies also feature enticing and comfortable furniture for example sofas and tables, so visitors feel right at home as soon as they arrive.

It is of course not just commercial premises which are utilised for business purposes, and as more people work in freelance and contractor positions, working from home is becoming more common so many families now have a room in their home filled with home office furniture such as office desks, bookshelves and computer desks which were formerly only seen in the office. With the development of remote access, Wi-Fi and laptop and tablet computers, we might see more common working from home in the future, so having a room of home office furniture in your house could soon become normal rather than the exception.

New research by a charitable organisation discovered that 12 million people in Britain are suffering from allergies in their own house, with mattresses and beds being the biggest culprit due to house dust mite collected within the material.

Allergy UK found that a large amount of people are affected by dust mites, pets, mould and cleaning solutions, and these allergies are heightened in the through winter by central heating. 59% of people which suffer from allergies state that the symptoms are worse in the bedroom, as the warmth offers a breeding ground for dust mites. The average bed may be home to two million dust mites, and the average pillow doubles in weight over a six month period as a result of dust mite faeces, showing the significance of frequently cleaning and changing your bedding and the bed itself.

Homeowners that are looking to replace the beds in their home have many options offered to them to, so it is crucial to fully research what type of mattresses, beds and bed frames you desire at home, specifically if you are prone to allergies.

Experts suggest that you need to change your single mattresses and double mattresses no less than every 8 – 10 years, whereas currently 13% of people have had their current mattress for 11 years or longer. Those who have problems with allergies should consider investing in allergy protectors for their homes or buying items such as memory foam mattresses which are less likely to cause allergy issues – nevertheless, because memory foam mattresses keep heat better than traditional mattresses some people with skin allergies can find that they may have a reaction, so it is vital to spend time investigating into the perfect mattresses for your preferences.

Whilst replacing their mattresses, many people opt to replace the double and single beds around their residence. New trends mean that there are a broad range of cheap beds accessible which suit any type of home, so regardless of whether you’re looking for traditional wooden beds, modern leather beds or affordable metal beds, you can get one that perfectly suits your home.

More traditionally decorated homes frequently choose wooden beds for a classic looking style, and with both double and single beds readily available these could be useful for the master suite, children’s bedrooms or guest rooms. Wooden beds have been developed recently and there are options out there such as sleigh beds, four poster beds and frames with storage drawers which mimic divan beds, so you can find the best one to perfectly correspond with your décor.

A stylish bedroom will generally be more suited to a bed made from more contemporary material, for instance metal beds or leather beds. Metal beds come in various designs, from elegantly and stylish designed frames featuring ornate work, to more functional and cost-effective designs. Compared, leather beds usually only can be found in a few unique styles but are available in colours such as black, brown, white and even red and pink. The wonderful choice accessible with the various materials, designs and colours in modern beds mean that everyone can now afford to have the ideal bed to stop problems with allergies and ensure they get a perfect night’s sleep!

As outlined by a national newspaper, various types of council across the UK are dimming the road lighting in order to cut costs. The Daily Telegraph told the story of how one in 10 street lights are gradually darkened through the night or turned off altogether in an attempt to cut energy costs. Many local authorities are getting their public spending budgets reduced in an endeavour to lower the country’s financial obligations and as a result, the councils are now looking for ways to cut costs.

Cllr Peter Box, chairman of the Local Government Association’s Economy and Transport Board, states that at times of hard financial pressure, councils should look for options to make savings and save taxpayers’ money but without cutting down public safety. He claims that by doing this, it doesn’t impact frontline providers like filling potholes, child protection and collecting bins. And if councils turned down their own pendant lighting and bathroom wall lighting in buildings, they could reduce costs even more.

It is professed that if UK authorities turn off just 9% of their LED lighting they could save a massive £21.5 million per year but the techniques applied to reduce the street lighting is actually priced at five times more than saving and is a staggering £106.3 million, so initially it will cost more to save. The expensive schemes consist of of energy used being set up in addition to changing lights to part-night operations; however some councils will not see a return on investment or obtain any advantages for up to eight years. But if councils can save money, homeowners can too with their garden lighting and bathroom lighting.

Breakdown cover firm AA has distributed a notice about the proposal, declaring that considerations need to be taken on-board as well lit areas are frequently advised as a protective crime measure. But the head of road safety, Andrew Howard, has said that dampening the power usage of wall lighting and street lights for part of the evening is a far better choice than removing them completely. Councils have been told by the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety that they ought to keep an eye on traffic in the areas and have a clear reason for dimming or switching off the outdoor lighting.

The amount of councils throughout the UK thinking about the plan is growing as well as the number of homeowners with their garden lights or kitchen lighting. Bedford Borough Council is running a trial of turning off 83-lights between the hours of for 5 hours a night to help save £383 a year. And Bolton Metropolitan Borough Council has said it intends to dim 4,500-lights from 10pm and 6am for one year too. In addition, Derbyshire County Council has expressed interest in getting involved and turning off lights between the hours of midnight and 5:30am to help save £400,000 a year; and Leeds City Council is also planning to turn off 8,000 lights over the course of three years. Furthermore, Warwickshire County Council has said it will start to turn off 80% of its 48,500 street lights at the beginning of next year.

Nevertheless, many authorities in cities have decided not to become immersed in the scheme or in to darkness with Birmingham, Manchester and most of London boroughs not turning off their tiffany lighting. Denbighshire Council in Wales has said that the payback period is too much and Croydon Council argue that they made the decision never to dim the street lights.

The same as the councils, you can cut your energy bills too by dimming the chandeliers and wall lights. Try and turn the bathroom lights and kitchen lights off when not being used to be eco-friendly and motivate the children to appreciate how costly modern lighting rates can be. Many bathroom spotlights can now be purchased that are low energy rated.

It could be something we have all grown to take for granted, however for many years getting light into our homes was not as easy as it is these days and resulting in humans having to rise with the sun and go to bed when night falls, instead of being able to take charge of their own lives

Fire was one of the original developments in lighting and over time humans discovered methods to get this source of light more mobile and making it possible to be used indoors. Flickering oil table lamps were one of the only ways you could light your home for hundreds of years, and sufficient lighting was something frequently reserved for the rich as the fuels included olive oils, sesame oils and fish oils, which poorer families would wind up eating when times were hard.

Gas lighting was created in the 18th century and this soon spread being popular in homes and as outdoor lighting in the streets of cities around the world. It was initially set up in London, but it soon spread to Europe and the USA, as well as other cities throughout the UK.

However, the gas lights were soon exchanged for more modern lighting; electric lighting. This is the type of outdoor lighting we see today, but a number of locations still retain gas lighting to produce a more nostalgic and historic feeling.

Today, modern lighting is available in a number of forms so we can light up your whole house and are no more restricted by the amount of daylight. One crucial area which has seen significant developments is bathroom lighting. Due to the amount of water in the room and the perils of electrics, inventors have developed many varieties of bathroom lighting to keep the room full of light without putting us at danger. From bathroom wall lighting to bathroom ceiling lighting, we can have a bath in total safety without chance of electrocution.

Modern ceiling lighting is additionally well-liked in locations other than the bathroom. Spotlights and other forms of ceiling lights are often found in modern kitchens as they possibly can allow light to be focused on particular areas which is well suited for cooking.

In addition to increasing our homes, lighting has also improved upon security. After the first gas lights were introduced in cities, crime rates fell and motion triggered outdoor LED lighting or outdoor wall lighting is now often made use of by homeowners outside of their property to deter intruders. Fire rated downlights have been developed which could stop your ceiling from falling apart in the case of a fire.

Lighting doesn’t only have to be functional; it can also be used for aesthetic purposes. LED lighting is popular as it means that coloured light may be given off naturally which can make a great feature for outdoor lighting particularly. Ceiling lighting and wall lights have also been improved due to new designs which can make your lighting a function of the room, thanks to options for instance crystal lighting and pendant lighting, and floor lamps are also very well liked for homeowners who wish to make a statement.

With the onset of energy efficient lightbulbs, lighting continues to develop to match the new technologies, so who knows what the lighting for the future will include.

Without camera bags, many of the most iconic photographs may have not been possible. Had the photographer not protected his or her camera and subsequently it had incurred damage, it would not have been able at the correct moment to snap the shots that have become historical.

Above is the most reproduced image in the history of photography, imagine Alberto Korda had not been able to take it! Che Guevara was a Marxist from Argentina who played a significant role in the Cuban Revolution of 1953-9. ‘Guerillero Heroico’ is the name Korda christened the photo with, taken on 5 March 1960 in Havana, Cuba at the memorial service for the lives claimed by the La Coubre explosion. This photo converted the controversial and charismatic leader into a cultural icon by the culmination of the 1960’s. Korda asserted that at the exact moment he took the picture, he was drawn towards Che Guevara’s facial expression which expressed anger, pain and “absolute implacability”.

The director of the California Museum of Photography, Jonathan Green, succinctly explained the significance of the photo; “Korda’s image has worked its way into languages around the world. It has become an alpha-numeric symbol, a hieroglyph, an instant symbol. It mysteriously reappears whenever there is conflict”.

When was the last time you used your landline to make a phone call? For many people in Britain, using a home phone has become a thing of the past, with a third of us never using the landline at all.

A study has found that landline phone use is even lower amongst those aged 18 – 34; 48 percent of people in this age range say that they never use their home phone.

According to Ofcom, there were 23.7 million landline phones in the UK at the end of 2010, however many of these are now only being used solely for broadband internet access. As a result of the research, supermarket chain Asda has now decided to stop selling landline phones for good.

Many people use their home purely to make international calls but thanks to the unique service offered by PocketdialUK you can make cheap international calls from mobile phones too!

International calls can be very expensive from a mobile phone and if you need to call family, friends or business contacts in across the world on a regular basis you could find that you end up with a very high phone bill.

However, PocketdialUK allow you to make a cheap international call anywhere in the world using their easy to use service, and this can be done from both a landline and a mobile phone. All you have to do is visit the PocketdialUK website, select the country you want to call and dial the access code given for that location. After you’re connected, you enter the number of your relative, friend or colleague and you’re put straight through. It’s easy, hassle free and you don’t have to sign up for an account, so it’s a win-win option for you.

Some mobile phone companies include non-geographic numbers (like the 084 and 087 numbers we use here at PocketdialUK) in the free minutes you get, so check with your provider as you could be able to make free international calls using your inclusive minutes!
